An inspection for the largest purchase you will probably make can be undertaken by someone who has only done an online course and has had no practical training in inspections. They are guided by ‘tick-box’ software that tells them what to check.

Is The Home Inspection Hub an established company? How long have you been around?
The Hub started life as SPI Property Inspections, which is now operates as the government, infrastructure and commercial division of our business. In 2018, The Hub was launched as a separate part of the business which is dedicated entirely to residential building inspections. Our business has grown year on year, and we are now one of the most established Melbourne businesses operating in this field.
What kind of residential inspections do you do?
As well as pre-purchase inspections, we are experienced in new home construction stage inspections, and we also conduct special purpose inspections and owner builder defect reports.
The Hub also offer a range of  specialised services for our clients. We assist many clients who are going through the dispute process with their builder – either through VCAT reports or in the form of an expert witness report, and/or as an expert witness in a court hearing.
We also offer tax depreciation schedules, contract review services (to assist our clients before their build begins), and maintenance inspections as an important follow-up to new builds.
Later this year we will be commencing pool and spa safety inspections to support our clients, in response to the new regulations that have come into effect for Victorian pool and spa owners.
What qualifications do your inspectors have?
Our inspectors are all qualified builders with substantial experience across all aspects of the building and construction industries. We have two qualified architects on our team and inspectors who are experienced in specialised areas such as the dealing with VCAT and the dispute resolution process, and working on large-scale government and infrastructure projects.
All inspectors who work for us go through a comprehensive training and induction program, including use of our custom-built iPad app which we have tailored to the needs of our clients and which we update regularly.
We also work with a number of qualified alliance partners – including Crunch Pest Control – to be able to provide a suite of additional professional services to our clients, such as tax depreciation schedules.
The Home Inspection Hub is fully insured and we are proud members of the Master Builder’s Association Victoria and the Housing Industry Association.
Where are you located?
Our sales and administration office is located in Boronia – you could say it’s the ‘hub’ of the Hub! Our inspectors travel throughout Melbourne, Geelong and Central Victoria – wherever our clients need us.
What do you charge for your inspections?
The price of our inspections varies depending on what kind of inspection is booked and the size of the property. We are not the cheapest on the market -we’d advise customers to avoid ‘cheap as chips’ inspections, as you only get what you pay for.  When you book a combined building and pest inspection with us, you will receive two individual, specialised reports accompanied by high-quality photographs, offering a comprehensive overview of the condition of the property.
Our pricing is fair and competitive, and we take pride in offering a superior service which is excellent value for money.
How do customers make a booking?
Crunch Pest Control and The Home Inspection Hub use only fully qualified and accredited Termite Inspectors and Builders to conduct your pre purchase inspections. Our inspectors aren’t just ‘freshly’ qualified either. We come with a vast amount of industry knowledge and experience and use the latest in detection technology.
There is also set of Australian Standards that all inspections MUST be conducted and reported by. These standards are known as AS 4349.3-2010 and AS 4349.1-2007 and we strictly adhere to these standards.
